Kenya 2010
Volunteers in Mission is the programme of MMS(I) which sends short-term work/witness teams overseas at the request of partner churches is looking for voulenteers to go to Kenya summer 2010.
A small team will be traveling to Marimanti, Kenya where Irish Methodist mission partner Helen Moorehead is running the Methodist Kamatungu School for the Deaf.
Aims of team:
- involvement with local church
- work with children and youth
- construct classroom (ground to roof level)
- painting of dormitories
- production of classroom visual aids
Team needs to include members with the following skills/experience:
- physically strong, skilled trades-people
- experience of producing educational aids
- experience of organizing youth and children’s work/meetings
- experience of pastoral work
- experience of leading Bible studies/fellowship meetings
The team will travel some time within the last 2 weeks of July and first week of August for a total length of about 17 days. Each team member is expected to raise funds to cover their own expenses and contribute towards the project costs.
